The National Science Agency CSiro from Australia has brought a new harvest of deep technical innovators to the attention as part of being Accelerate 9 Showcase, held this week in Melbourne.
The program, which started in April, supports research teams that tackle some of the country’s most urgent challenges by helping transform breakthrough science into real-world solutions. In the past three months, the 11 participating teams have made considerable progress and collectively obtain more than $ 33.8 million in subsidies and investments.
Their projects include critical sectors, including health, drug development, sustainable production and energy. Each of the teams achieved technological validation during the program and marked an important milestone on the path from Laboratory Bank to Markt.
Dr. Jen Taylor, executive director of Future Industries at CSiro, said that the cohort represents the kind of innovation that Australia needs to support his future industries.
“We are incredibly proud of supporting the next wave of Australian researchers who are trying to resolve the most critical challenges of society,” said Dr. Taylor.
“Making connections with the broader innovation ecosystem, including mentors, investors and customers, is crucial for success, but still not an easy performance and remains an important barrier that influences the translation of Australian research.
“We are committed to splitting these barriers and unlocking routes for success, to ensure that this cohort continues with its impressive growth process to stimulate the worldwide research of Australia and to contribute to future economic growth.”
The ON -ACCELERATE PROGRAM offers personalized coaching, entrepreneurs and commercialization training and direct support for investors and customer involvement. It is designed to give research teams the business skills and strategic support that are often missing in early scientific companies.
Among the striking teams of this year was Elemental Therapeutics, a spin-out from the University of Melbourne that developed an antibiotic-improving treatment for bacterial pneumonia acquired by the community. The team has protected more than $ 3 million in non-dilive financing, including an Australian economic accelerator from 2025 Ignite Grant and investments from Carb-X, a global accelerator for antibiotic innovation.
Another team, I-Vade of Edith Cowan University, creates a virtual reality training tool to help healthcare employees to de-escalate aggression and violence. They received almost half a million dollars from the WA Department of Health and were accepted in the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub.
Dr. Brennan Mills from I-Vade was also announced as the 2025 receiver of the Stanford Australia Foundation Hawkins Ueland and Csiro for Scholarship.
“The Stanford Australia Foundation’s Hawkins Ueland & Csiro on Scholarship will play an integral role in supporting Dr. Brennan Mills from I-Vade to continue his innovation path,” said Stanford Australia Foundation Ryan spokesperson. “The prize will help to deepen the commercialization possibilities of I-Vade to translate a breakthrough idea into an indispensable solution for those who work in health care.”
Ella Casale from Elemental Therapeutics received the CSiro at Impactful Leadership Award, which is supplied with $ 10,000 for professional development.
Other achievements from the cohort are:
- 3DCERAFLEX Secure pilot studies in space, defense and biomedical sectors for its powerful ceramic 3D printing technology
- Amorphoil turned in the direction of the development of amorphic electric steel films for EV engines and loading systems
- Epiblox was a strategic partnership with a pharmaceutical company and is looking for financing to promote its epilepsy treatment for children
- Facet Amtech submitted a patent for clean ammonia production and was selected for the Going Global Program of Investment NSW
- Prosek Bio promotes IP and commercial recording of an early diagnostic tool for ovarian cancer
- VIORTEC is the completion of its commercialization plan for the SmartClamp device after securing a strong investor and industrial and industrialist

Each team now joins the On Alumni Network, which includes 83 startups that have collected more than $ 415 million in capital and have obtained $ 336 million in commercialization subsidies.
