Harmanpreet Kaur and the other members of the Indian team won the hearts of cricket lovers with a heart-warming gesture during the third and final ODI in the multi-format series against Australia. The Women in Blue presented a guard of honor Alyssa Healywho is making her last ODI appearance before retiring.

Healy did not play the T20 leg of the series as she gave the young Australian players a chance to prepare for the T20 World Cup, which starts later in the year. She will retire from the sport after playing the day-night Test against India at Optus Stadium in Perth from March 6 to March 9.

Sunday, March 1 was a special moment for Healy as she played the last ODI of her illustrious career. After India won the toss and elected to bowl first, Healy walked out to open alongside Phoebe Litchfield. The Indian team gathered to give the Australian captain a guard of honor to recognize her contributions not only to Australian cricket but to the sport in general.

Healy celebrated the emotional occasion by smashing a fighting century on Sunday. She reached the three-figure mark in just 79 balls. The 35-year-old was 150 off just 95 deliveries as the Indian bowlers looked hapless against her attack. It looked like Healy would hit a double century but Sneh Rana finished her knock with a high full toss in the 37th over, which the batsman missed while playing a reverse sweep and was bowled.

Healy’s knock ended on a score of 158 off 98 balls. The experienced campaigner hit 27 fours and two sixes during her knock. Australia won the first two ODIs and after Healy’s remarkable century on Sunday, the Women in Yellow would look to make amends and provide a fitting parting gift to the Gold Coast natives.
