Legacy of the championship requires the right closure, and Myanmar icon Aung La n Sang has delivered exactly that. The legendary former two-division One world champion wrote the last glorious chapter of his legendary career while earning a Hall of Fame induction.
Sing to Dephat Zebztian Cadestam via Sea-Wrid-Reg One Fight Night 36 On Friday, October 3, in Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium. The 40-year-old “Burmese Python” assured his 31st career victory before he heard that on November 16 he would be admitted to the One Championship Hall of Fame on a 173 in Tokyo.
Tension filled the opening round when both former champions shot chose with precision and care. Each tried to find gaps in the game of the other, while avoiding counters of dangerous knockout artists facing them.
But the hesitation disappeared when the round two started. Aung La n Sang started to illuminate his rival with short, banging punches. Damage was first demonstrated on the face of Kadestam and then in his will to fight.
Supported against the ropes, the Swede couldn’t go anywhere. He shot up and absorbed a flurry of bumps, knees and more strokes of “The Burmese Python.” Aung La n Sang then shot “The Bandit” with a right hand that crumbled him near the corner.
The Myanmar legend continued to pummelen his opponent until the referee stopped at 2:20 am. He also took a $ 50,000 bonus home from one chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
Aung La n Sang built the legendary career from a modest start
The journey of Aung La n Sang started far from the glory of the championship. The former migrant beekeeper traveled through America and worked before he devoted his life to martial arts after graduating at Andrews University in Michigan with a degree in agricultural sciences.
He made his professional debut in 2005 and built up a reputation through excellent entry skills that earned him “the Burmese Python” nickname. His immense talent almost exclusively produced victories during his career.
June 2017 marked history when he defeated Vitaly Bigdash to become one middleweight MMA world champion. Myanmar united in the celebration of the very first sports and MMA world champions of their country and created a national hero whose impact transcended the sport.
He doubled his gold collection in 2018 and defeated Alexandre Machado via Knock -out to claim a vacant a slightly heavyweight MMA world championship. Holding simultaneous titles over two divisions confirmed its legendary status.
