It is six years since Audi introduced the current generation of RS6 Avant. Although a new A6 Avant has been for sale in Europe for a few months, the old Super Wagon remains available. The question usually fades when a car will go after retirement, but that is not the case with the ultimate family traaser in Ingolstadt. A business representative even says that the demand for the RS6 has never been higher, at least for the first six months of the year.
Speak with a German business newspaper Car -weekAudi revealed that the RS6 Avant enjoys record half -year orders. Alina Seysen, spokesperson for the Sales and Marketing company, said that the popularity of the car stimulated the overall question at Audi Sport. Up to and including June, the order inlet for Audi Sport has risen by 41 percent compared to the first six months of 2024.
For the sake of clarity, Audi Sport only includes RS-bathed models if fewer S cars are omitted. This differs from Mercedes and BMW, which bundle their lower performance models with full-fat AMG and M cars respectively. That makes the success of the RS6 even more remarkable, especially for an aging product. For the first two generations (C5 and C6) the RS6 was sold as both a sedan and a car. The C7 only came as the more practical avant, a tradition continued by the current C8. While the RS7 Sportback shares a lot with the RS6, the comments from Seysen are strictly applicable to the car.
So why does the hot avant flourish so late in his life cycle? Probably a mix of factors. Mercedes-AMG still has to launch the new E63 estate, while BMW’s decision to give the M5 Touring a hybrid powertrain has alienated buyers who prefer a pure V-8 experience. Speaking of electrification, Audi has already confirmed that the next generation RS6 Avant (C9) will have a hybrid setup. Some buyers may hurry to break the outgoing model before it is replaced by a heavier and more complex successor.
The V-8 is expected to remain, but a plug-in hybrid system can scare purists who are only looking for a car on an ice. You could appeal to the argument that the ship has already sailed, given that the current RS6 is already using a mild-hybrid setup. Whatever the reason is, it is refreshing to see a car bloom in today’s SUV-dominated market. Audi has re -confirmed its long -term obligation to powerful estates, so fast avants are not going anywhere.

Spy photos and videos have already shown prototypes of the next generation RS6 Avant and the smaller RS4 Avant. The latter is likely to follow the same formula: all his cylinders are holding while you add an electric motor and battery. Audi has excluded four-cylinder RS models and with the inline-five the end is approaching, an evolution of the V-6 probably seems.
And more of Audi Sport is passing by Wagons. In September Audi unveils a draft car that is placed between the TT and R8, with the aim of catching the same buzz as the original TT that was generated in the late 1990s. It is appropriate, it is invoiced if the “TT Moment 2.0”.
