— An Audi backup camera recall covers more than 356,000 vehicles because software bugs can cause rearview camera images to disappear.
Rear camera recalls have been ongoing and endless since the government mandated the systems, and at least with this recall from Audi, the automaker says it believes less than 1% of the systems are defective.
The Audi reversing camera recall includes these models.

Audi opened an investigation in December 2023 after reports of problems with the rearview camera, but engineers struggled to track down the problem as it was “very sporadic”.
However:
“Further testing has confirmed for the first time that electrical noise between the control unit and the cameras can cause corrupt registry data that can sporadically affect the performance of one or more individual cameras of the Top View Camera system if the system is used during that driving cycle. The problem has been determined to be very sporadic and will be resolved after the vehicle is restarted or the bus goes to sleep.”
The recall has been announced, but engineers say the “cause could not be identified, but the analysis suggests that electrical noise, reduced protection integrity and timing may adversely affect the operation of the rearview camera.”
If the backup camera image goes blank, Audi drivers have to back up the old-fashioned way.
Audi dealers will update the rearview camera software once the recall letters are sent out on February 17, 2026.
Owners can contact Audi at 800-253-2834 and ask for the backup camera recall number 90TV.
