Toronto, Ont. -Sovereign award -winning trainer Kevin Attard sends the trio of Wild Pansy (GB), defender Fashionable FAB and 2024 King’s plate winner Caitlinhergrtness In the $ 150,000 Ontario Matron Stakes (G3), Saturday in Woodbine.
Wild Pansy (GB), owned by Repole Stable, will make her first North American start in the 1/16-Mile main job function for mares and mares, 3-year-olds and up.
A daughter of Siyouni (FR) from the Frankel (GB) Mare Ejtyah (GB), posted the 5-year-old a third and a few victories in her last three starts, including a last time-out score in the Prix de la Rotonde De Minerve (Handicap) in Chantilly on November 12.
“The last two starts were pretty impressive,” said Attard. “She dug down to win a neck in Deauville and then won with nearly two lengths at Chantilly. In the race for that she was third but she was not far back at all.
“We had the chance to look at some of her races and it is very impressive. She is clearly in good shape and she settled here well from the start. Her last start was in November, but everything we saw from her in the run -up to the race is very encouraging.”
Bred in England by Rabbah Bloodstock Limited, De Bay Mare has included a series of works in Woodbine over three different surfaces-head tracks, turf training track and dirty training-included a five-Furlong BRIES in 1: 03.60 on the Dirt Training Track, to prepare for the Ontario Matron.
“We are enthusiastic about this new chapter in her career,” said Attard. “She has been moved far across the surfaces she has trained. She is very easy to work with. You can see that the talent is there and the mentality too.”
Wild Pansy (GB) debuted with a second more than eight furlongs in Chantilly on 3 April 2023. Fifteen days later, in Lyon Parilly, she broke her girl, again at eight furlongs, thanks to a score of 2 ½ length in the Desir de Mai Maiden Stakes.
“She is very good on the poly and running on the distance, so we hope for a big performance on Saturday,” said Attard.
Repole bought Wild Pansy (GB) for € 450,000 from the 2014 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale.

Attard will also broadcast who last year’s winner, Sovereign Award receiver (2025 Champion Older Hoofdbaan Female) and several Graded Stakes Winner Fab.

“I thought her last race was pretty good,” said Attard. “She came with a very nice run and had a lot of energy lately. The hope is now that she can build that effort and run a big one here.
“We would like to see a repeat of last year’s race. She kept coming and was so determined on the track. Her first two starts of this year (fifth in the Belle Mahone (G3) and the eighth in the Dominion Day (G3)) were disappointing, but she shows that she is back to her old self.”
Fashion -worthy fantastic covered four Furlongs in: 49.60 on the main job on 6 September.
“We have always liked her – for many reasons,” said Attard. “She has the opportunity to enter into talented competition and we are happy with the way she enters the race.” The distance is absolutely in her wheelhouse, so we are looking for a large of her. “

Cailtinhergrtness, the 2024 King’s plate winner and Canada’s Champion 3-year-old woman, named after Wnba-Superster Caitlin Clark, will dispute her ninth straight Stakes competition.
The 4-year-old daughter of Omaha Beach from the Causeway Mare Belatrix of the Giant made a winning seasonal debut in the 1 1/16-Mijl Belle Mahone (G3), a main road race for mares and mares, 4-year-olds and higher.
It was the first Graded Stakes Crown for the Winstar Farm LLC Chestnut Filly.
Cailtinhergrtness was eighth in the Nassau (G2T) on 28 June, second in the Trillium (G3) on July 26 and fifth in the EP Taylor (G1T) on August 16.

“She has a heavy competition addicted this year and that is again the case,” said Attard. “We hope that she will show her true self on Saturday, and all signs indicate that that is the case.”
