ATP star Jannik Sinner knows what he has to do to stay at the top

Jannik Sinner has just returned to Italy to enjoy Christmas with his family, but he will be back to practicing on the tennis court very soon.

The world number 2 – who worked hard with his entire team during the first part of his preparation in Dubai – will continue training in Monte Carlo from Saturday, December 27, while his departure to Seoul (South Korea) is scheduled for January 6.

As everyone knows, the Italian star will star in an exhibition match against his great rival Carlos Alcaraz on January 10, before concentrating on the Australian Open. The 24-year-old from Sesto Pusteria is aiming to become, along with Nole Djokovic, the second player in the Open Era to lift the trophy three times in a row and will certainly be the man to beat at Melbourne Park, where current world number 1 Alcaraz has never progressed past the quarter-finals.

Jannik does not stop working

If he were to confirm the title Down Under, Jannik would have a great chance of returning to the top of the ATP rankings in the coming months, as he has not been able to play this year due to the controversial ban imposed on him by WADA. Currently, there are only 550 points between the Spaniard and the Italian in the ATP rankings.

In an interview with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali during the final GP of the Formula 1 season in Abu Dhabi, the former world number 1 emphasized that he strongly believes in continuous work: “If an athlete wants to stay at the top of his sport for a long time, he must never settle and always keep working. Our environment is very competitive and the opponents are looking for new ways to beat you, so you have to keep your motivation at the highest level and be surrounded by the right people.”

The four-time Grand Slam champion added: “I am proud to be Italian and I try to represent an entire nation while I play. Our country has always been characterized by an enormous passion for sport.”
