At least 14 people were killed and 30 people were injured, including five children, in the nightly Russian rocket and drone attacks on the eastern city of Dobropillia in Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of the Interior.

On Saturday, the ministry said Russian troops attacked the city with ballistic rockets, several rockets and drones, which damaged buildings and cars with multiple floors.

The attacks came days before conversations in Saudi Aarabia between the American and Ukrainian negotiators aimed at a truce.

Three people were killed separately at a drone attack and seven others were injured early on Saturday in the city of Bohodukhiv, said Kharkiv region of military head Oleg Synegubov.

The nocturnal air strikes come after the US President Donald Trump threatened new sanctions and rates for Russia, but said it might be “easier” to work with Moscow than Kiev on efforts to end the three -year war.

“It can be easier to deal with Russia.”

The comments followed Mr Trump earlier on Friday and threatened new sanctions and rates for Russia because of the bombing of Ukraine – his warning came only a few hours after Moscow launched a “massive” drone and rocket attack on Ukrainian energy facilities.
