Funding for this initiative is provided by NGPF and the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation.
Each of the three graduate-level personal finance courses offered will be delivered once a year for the next three years, with 100 scholarships available for each course:
- Investment for teachers
- Risk management for teachers
- Psychology and technology in personal finance for teachers
This relaunch comes as 30 states now require personal finance as a high school graduation requirement, nearly tripling the number in 2021. This policy increases the demand for teachers trained to teach this subject.
“Personal finance is becoming a core part of a student’s high school education, and teachers deserve access to high-quality education,” said Tim Ranzetta, co-founder of Next Gen Personal Finance. “This partnership with ASU, an industry leader, gives educators the confidence and expertise they need to build the content knowledge needed to effectively teach these challenging topics.”
“Children make up only 25% of the population, but represent 100% of our future,” said David Nicholson, president and founder of the Stiles-Nicholson Foundation. “Supporting the financial education of these talented teachers will have a major impact on students’ ability to survive and thrive financially.”
The Personal Finance Graduate Certificate Program, originally launched as a pilot in August 2023, has exceeded enrollment expectations. Since its launch, more than 800 scholarships have been awarded and the program has maintained a success rate of more than 99%.
