The Astros released catcher Omar Narvaez of his Minor League contract, KPRC2’s Ari Alexander Reports. Narvaez spent less than two months with Triple-a Sugar Land, and he hit .258/.402/.333 over 117 record performances with the top filiate of Astros.
Houston worn Yainer Diaz” Victor CaratiniAnd Cesar Salazar On the 26-man schedule for about two and a half months, and Narvaez was added to the organization during this period. After the All-Star break, however, Salazar was brought back to Triple-A, and with some depth that has been added to the Minor League ranks, Narvaez may have become replaceable in the display of Astros.
Narvaez was published in each of the last 10 major League seasons and his CV from 2025 consists of four games with the White Sox earlier this season before he was released in May. Narvaez is a very solid batter during his Prime years and has only managed one .201/.278/.286 slash line in 521 main class record performances since the start of the 2022 season, and he is limited to Minor League deal since the Mets released him from the 2024 campaign.
As an experienced backstop with a respected reputation as a defender, Narvaez is intended to land somewhere in a team that has to catch depth. No report was made of an opt-out clause in the Narvaez deal, but it could be that if there was no clear path to Narveaz to make the schedule of the Astros (apart from several injuries), the two parties corresponded to go away so that the catcher could look to land a job elsewhere.
