Ask Slashdot: What’s the dumbest use of AI you’ve seen in 2025? -Slashdot

Destinyland, an experienced Slashdot reader, writes: What’s the dumbest use of AI you’ve come across in 2025? Have you received calls from AI telemarketers? Forced to have job interviews with a glitching AI? With all this talk of ‘disruption’ and ‘inevitability”, this is our chance to have some fun. Personally, I think the worst AI “innovation” of 2025 was the AI-powered web browsers eating up those web pages and then spitting out a short “summary” of what you would have seen if you had actually visited the web page. But there have been other AI projects that have been extremely bad…

— Two years after Suzanne Somers’ death, her husband recreated her an AI-powered robot.

– Disneyland fantasy creators used deep learning to program a talking robot snowman.

— LA Comic Con attendees got the chance to talk to one AI-powered hologram of Stan Lee for $20.

— And of course, at the end of the year, the Wall Street Journal announced that there had been an automaton from Claude AI of Anthropic tricked into giving away hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise for freeincluding a PlayStation 5, a live fish and underwear.
