Shreyas Iyer was one of the most shocking names to miss from the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2025. BCCI heads of the Ajit Agarkar mentioned after the team was announced that the Mumbai seizure was a pity not to find a place in the 15-man team. Agarkar also stated that Shreyas had not failed. Surprisingly, the Punjab Kings captain could not find a place among the five players who were chosen as reserves.
Former India -Law Manjrekar was shocked when he saw that Shreyas was not being picked in the side. The experienced commentator accused the selectors of choosing players for one format based on their performance in other formats.

Manjrekar pointed out how Shreyas proved his references during the Home Series against England earlier this year and the subsequent Indian Premier League.

Manjrekar called the impressive statistics of Shreyas of IPL 2025, where he led Punjab Kings to their first final in 11 years. The 30-year-old led from the front and hit 604 runs in 17 innings with an average of 50.33 and a success rate of 175.07.

Manjrekar claimed that team selections were not great lately and thought that SHREYAS was being injured by the selectors.
