Forest Hill, MD (November 13, 2025) – The American Sports Builders Association (ASBA), the national organization for builders, designers and suppliers of sports facilities, is proud to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2025. Since its founding in 1965, ASBA has set the standard for quality, professionalism and innovation in the construction and maintenance of sports surfaces and facilities.
Originally founded as the US Tennis Court & Track Builders Association, ASBA has evolved over the past sixty years to reflect the growing scope of the industry. Today, with nearly 700 member companies representing contractors, design professionals and suppliers, ASBA provides unparalleled resources, education and certification programs for the sports construction community.
“ASBA continues to provide the best education and networking opportunities for construction, design and suppliers in the sports construction industry,” said Randy Resley, President of ASBA.
Celebration at the 2025 technical meeting
ASBA commemorates its anniversary at the 2025 Technical Meeting & Trade Show, taking place December 2-5 in San Antonio, Texas. This annual event brings together hundreds of professionals for educational sessions, certification preparation, networking and an extensive trade show. Special programming and events will highlight ASBA’s 60 years of service and innovation.
ASBA also recognizes excellence in the sports facility construction industry through its Annual Facility Awards Program, which honors outstanding facilities that exemplify superior design, construction and innovation across all sports surfaces.
New this year, ASBA introduces live AI translation and subtitling for inclusive and multilingual sessions on all technical circuits: courts, fields, tracks and indoor sports surfaces. This feature, which is free to all participants, allows participants to join from a phone, tablet or laptop and access real-time audio or closed captioning in dozens of languages.
“ASBA has consistently raised the bar to set the quality standards in our industry,” said Eric Loftus, Secretary/Treasurer of ASBA.
The Technical Meeting & Trade Show offers 36 simultaneous sessions across all divisions, plus unparalleled networking opportunities. To register, visit https://sportsbuilders.org/page/technicalmeeting-registration.
Giving something back to sports facilities and students
ASBA’s 60th anniversary year is also about giving back. The American Sports Builders Foundation (ASBF) coordinates and finances the construction and renovation of sports facilities and provides scholarships to students pursuing industry-related programs.
This year’s Technical Meeting Golf Tournament benefits the Foundation and helps fund facility renovations and scholarships that shape the next generation of sports design and construction professionals.
In celebration of this milestone, ASBA will match all donations to the Foundation, including sponsorships, dollar for dollar up to $60,000 through the end of the year. Each sponsorship doubles the impact and supports both educational and community initiatives.
Honoring the past, shaping the future
The American Sports Builders Association’s 60th anniversary is more than just a date on the calendar. It is a sign of heritage, leadership and innovation. It reflects six decades of professionals coming together to raise the bar for excellence in sports facilities.
“The connections made through ASBA have been so important both professionally and personally,” said Meg Buczynski, PE, chair-elect. “Helping each other achieve the highest levels of design and construction for all of our athletic customers is so meaningful.
As ASBA celebrates, it honors its past, recognizes achievements and sets its sights firmly on the future: better standards, greater innovation, increasing sustainability and ensuring that sport builders continue to lead the way in creating safe, sustainable and high-quality athletics facilities for generations to come.
