Arteta supports Gyokeres after an underwhelming Arsenal -debut

Mikel Arteta has insisted that Viktor Gyokeres will improve in Arsenal after an isolated debut in Manchester United.

Arsenal opened their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win at Manchester United, although Gyokees had trouble making an impact.

The 27-year-old entered Sporting Lisbon earlier this summer in a £ 55 million deal, with 97 goals in 102 games in Portuguese football in the past two seasons.

The excitement has understandably greeted his arrival in North London, because Arsenal is looking for a reliable goal attitude to dismiss their title challenge.

The Swedish striker, however, was starving for his hour on the field and only succeeded in 21 touches, of which only three came within the sentence.

Despite those figures, Arteta said that he was happy with the contribution of Gyokees and colleague who signed Martin Zubimendi.

“Very happy with them, those who also came in, they had a huge impact in the game,” Arteta told Sky Sports.

“Some are still not at the highest level they have to reach, but we will come there.”
