A very quick blog today… but word is out, Mikel Arteta has gone straight into wild mode and decided the best move tonight is to let Bukayo continue in that ten role in the absence of anyone better.
This is interesting on a number of levels.
It represents a reward for Madueke, who has found a very rich form in recent weeks. The cushioned header, Thierry Henry’s finish against Wigan and the overall improvement in better decision-making have made him difficult to drop.
This is also a bit of a blow for Eze, who also put in a 10/10 performance against Wigan. We’ve talked about Eze as a player who needs an arm around the shoulder and a bit of running to get going… I’m not sure how this will make him feel.
But Premier Leagues are not won on feelings. This is the warrior mode phase of the season and you need to put your best foot forward. Who here thinks that Saka at ten o’clock tonight isn’t the best idea?
You have a player who can move quickly, win duels, score his chances and create like the best. Leaving him in and Madueke on the outside gives Wolves a whole basket of superpowers to deal with.
I’m in love with this for so many reasons, but mostly because when he gets it right, Odegaard’s flakiness keeps the title run from being ruined. I want Saka to punch Wolves. I want a warrior in that 10 role. We need someone who is committed to output and takes on that role… and, most importantly, a player with unwavering convictions.
So let’s see what the boys have to offer… this is the most must-win of must-wins. COME ON ARSENAL!
