Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gave an injury update about Martin Odegaard and Declan after the few Saturday from the field against West Ham United was forced.

It was rice that opened the score for Gunners in the Emirates Stadium when he fired the ball up close in the 38th minute.

Arsenal received a penalty in the second half when Jurrien Timber was brought down in the box by El Hadji Malick Diouf. Bukayo Saka stepped up to turn the spot kick for his 100th goal for the club, at the age of 200.

However, the victory was marred by even more injury problems for Arteta. For the third time this season, Odegaard had to leave a Premier League with an injury, this time after a collision of knees. He was replaced half an hour after the game by Martin Zubimendi.

Rice then made way for Mikel Merino late in the second half, where the manager then confirmed that he asked to get away because of a back issue.

“With Martin it was a knee clash for knee,” said Arteta. “It doesn’t look very positive at the moment.”

“With Declan he struggled with back pain and asked me to get off. Let’s see what the doctor says now and what is best for him.”

The two midfielders join Noni Madueke (knee), Piero Hincapie (Lies), Gabriel Jesus (cruciate ligament) and Kai Havertz (knee) on the treatment table. Madueke and Hincapie are expected to return later this month, Havertz in November, and Jesus at the end of the year.
