Arsenal want to add a left winger to the squad next year. While Gabriel Martinelli has been in good form this season, especially in the Champions League, there is room for an upgrade in the position with Leandro Trossard also likely to leave.
Juventus midfielder Kenan Yildiz was among those linked with a visit to the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks. according to Buitenspelthe Gunners had already met with his agent, Jorge Mendes, to discuss a possible transfer next year.
Yildiz is one of Juve’s best players and has a contract with them until June 2029, but with extension talks not going in the right direction due to his salary demands, the Turk is said to be on the move amid interest from the Premier League.
Switch to Arsenal’s most likely candidate for Yildiz
Kenan Yildiz has scored three goals and provided four assists in all competitions this season, and his excellent dribbling, shooting and chance creation have attracted the attention of Chelsea as well as Arsenal.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side would feel they are in pole position to seal his transfer as they can offer him a starring role in their team from the start and have also been given the more attractive sporting project.
Chelsea’s potential signing of Yildiz could see him compete with a number of players for a role in the team, while the Blues could also think twice before spending a big sum on yet another winger with a defensive rebuild planned.
That said, Juventus value Yildiz at £80 million, so a move for him won’t be cheap, but Arsenal will be able to cut back on his wages considering the 20-year-old is only paid around £1 million in Italy, a rather paltry sum.
What that could mean is the end for Leandro Trossard at Arsenal, while Arsenal’s active interest in a left winger could indicate Eberechi Eze being deployed as an attacking midfielder in the team, rather than on one of the flanks.
