Arsenal are considering a move for Tino Livramento

According to The sunArsenal are prepared to compete with Manchester City to sign Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners strengthened their backline last summer with Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie. The latter was loaned to the London giants with a conditional purchase obligation from Bayer Leverkusen.

Mosquera and Hincapie are naturally central defenders, but can also operate from the right and left back roles respectively.

Remember new hair

Nevertheless, Arsenal are looking for a new versatile full-back The sun claim they are prepared to battle Man City for Livramento’s signature at the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old will enter the final two years of his contract in the summer and the Magpies could be tempted to sell him if an extension is not arranged. He could be available for around £60m.

Possible deal

The Gunners have the strongest defensive depth in the Premier League this season. Jurrien Timber and Ben White are the right-back choices for manager Mikel Arteta. Mosquera could also play there if she is fit.

In the left-back department, Arsenal have Riccardo Calafiori, Hincapie and Myles Lewis-Skelly to choose from. However, there is a possibility of a new arrival at the full-back positions ahead of the 2026/27 season.

White has been plagued by injuries and inconsistent form over the past 18 months, with Timber having become the first-choice right-back and Arteta likely to want stiffer competition for places next campaign.

The ex-Brighton man could be moved to Livramento, who has developed into a quality full-back. The former Chelsea graduate has achieved 89% of his passes this term 5 chargebacks and 3 approvals per outing.

Livramento has shown his sublime compatibility in both full-back positions. His arrival could also raise questions about the future of Lewis-Skelly, who has had a tough second season with the first team.

The youngster has had to play second fiddle to Calafiori in the left back position for most of the season. When he got his chance, he looked unconvincing as attackers were regularly behind him.

If Livramento were to arrive in the Emirates, one of White or Lewis-Skelly could leave next summer.
