Simon Ritter:
‘Meanelessly friendly? Certainly not!
No party against that party should ever be friendly and this had a lot of predictable resentment and biting.
Alex Murphy were plus points despite his own goal, Pope on top form and the great energy of Osula. He was centimeter wide with a header that would have been the goal of the game.
Minus points were Joelinton’s foolish mistake for the penalty, Botman lasted only 25 minutes and the general ineffectiveness of our broad players.
Those stories about Elanga’s ability are true; His goal was the best one-two, because Jagger Jumpin ‘Jack Flash sang.
Jacob Murphy was his usual mix of sublime and ridiculous.
Havertz spent most of his time to injure opponents. Some things never change, unfortunately. ‘
Nat Seaton:
‘A good test today and both teams played well in every half.
Good for Elanga to get his first goal.
It is a pity to lose due to a foolish punishment that is given away by Joelinton, but it is not all for the season and the results.
I don’t think Botman was expected to play only 25 minutes, so hopefully he will be fine.
After this last week it was good to be able to concentrate on football, the field and I am sure the manager and players felt the same. ‘
Sam Hepworth:
‘Many positives today, in contrast to Celtic.
It was a match where the opposition again had an advantage, Arsenal who had traveled a few days before Newcastle and played on Wednesday and beat AC Milan 1-0.
The heat and humidity clearly difficult, especially early in the preseason, but Newcastle plays well and holds on to its own.
A soft fine admitted by Joelinton for Odegaard to score the deceased winner.
United, however, was at least worth a draw.
Eddie Howe will be well satisfied with how his players have done today and hopefully Sven Botman is OK after just 25 seconds half minutes.
Elanga showed his capacity with two feet when Tonalalis was met excellent low cross from the right by the former forest wing that shot with his right, the ball hit his left and Raya when he went over his dive.
Murphy with a very good low left foot in the bottom corner from outside the box. ‘
Tony Mallabar:
‘So it ends in a 3-2 defeat.
But let’s not forget the main story here.
Why have a part of WOR that went to Singapore noticed? It must be again.
I am often saying that players are coming and players go.
I have had it from a boy I know in Singapore that this Isak situation is all up to his agent.
I will not call him either, because this is a public forum and I cannot verify this 100%. ‘
John Martin:
‘United will always be at a disadvantage in a friendly like this.
In a phase of the preseason when playing another team every half in this heat.
Only Pope (who was excellent today, some great Saves) and Osula played more than 45 minutes.
With a much larger team, it loads more depth, Arsenal is always a helping hand playing so many players in a friendly one.
United played good football and two good movements/goals, while for Arsenal their first goal was well edited, but the other two were a shocker from Alex Murphy when he was in his own goal when it was easier to place it wide of the mail, when the winner is a soft penalty for which Joelinton was punished.
Tonali was excellent, I thought and he started the movement for the opening goal, sprint diagonally and eventually let the ball play along the line, Tonali then with a large cross for Elanga to put it away. ‘
