Arman Tsarukyan claims he already knew the UFC would hand Paddy Pimblett the next lightweight title. However, due to Ilia Topuria’s stoppage, they had to book the interim title fight between Justin Gaethje and Pimblett, which will now headline UFC 324.
According to Tsarukyan, the promotion wants to make Pimblett a “star” and make him an even “bigger name” before the possible Topuria fight. The Armenian claims he is capable of beating Pimblett, Gaethje and Topuria.
Tsarukyan’s only tough fight would have been against Islam Makhachev. But Makhachev moved up to the welterweight division, where he is now champion. In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, ‘Ahalkalakets’ said:
I already knew that Paddy was going to fight Ilia Topuria in January, but I didn’t know that they were going to win the interim title with Justin Gaethje and Paddy. I think this is the UFC game plan, not family issues. They want to make Paddy Pimblett a star, have him fight for the title with Topuria as the bigger name. They know I can beat anyone. Paddy is easy work, Justin is easy work and Ilia is easy work. Islam was hard work, but he left, so no one is at my level in this division right now.”

Paddy Pimblett has ridiculed Arman Tsarukyan after the promotion was announced UFC324. ‘The Baddy’ has also revealed his plans to win the interim UFC lightweight title and then dethrone Ilia Topuria, after which the Brit aims to defeat Arman Tsarukyan.
Tsarukyan, however, sees Pimblett as easy work. In the same ESPN interview posted above, ‘Ahalkalakets’ joked:
“I would just meow [Paddy’s] face on the ground with my elbows… I never go for the choke; I’m going to elbow him all day and night, make his face bleed… If I see Paddy I’d like to punch him.’
