Arman Tsarukyan reveals plans for new athletic pursuit after MMA career

UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan has revealed what he would like to do once he retires from mixed martial arts.

At 29 years old, it certainly feels like Arman Tsarukyan still has a few years left in him when it comes to his pursuit of MMA glory. While he’s in a tough spot right now, as the UFC isn’t particularly interested in giving him a championship opportunity, he has the skills necessary to cause trouble for just about anyone weighing 155 pounds.

Equally, it is important that fighters think about what they will do once they hang up their gloves – even in the position of Arman Tsarukyan, who, as we know, has quite a lucrative background.

In a recent interview, Arman Tsarukyan talked about what exactly he wants to do athletically when he leaves mixed martial arts.

“No, no (I’m not going to stop training after my career), I’m going to do triathlon,” he told ACBJJ.

“Well, I can cycle very well and I swim well. Add running to that and you travel the world, there are competitions, the communities are diverse, you meet different people and it’s such an interesting hobby,” he continued.

Tsarukyan doesn’t have many fans when it comes to hardcore supporters, mainly because a lot of them either don’t like his attitude or just really like the people he’s defeated (Charles Oliveira and Dan Hooker) or looks like he’ll be competing against (Ilia Topuria).

When you look at the landscape of the lightweight division, it would certainly be a very different place without Tsarukyan in it – but for now, the world of triathlon will probably have to wait before he makes any kind of transition.
