Although he became a hot favorite after winning his last three races, De Steve and Amanda Telfer Bar Louie trained (Dear Lou) Racte somewhat high -quality talent in the current Kurow Hotel Kurow – Kurow Cup in Oamaru.

Because of the first part of the racing bar, Louie and driver Tim Williams were captured three wide before they rolled to the top with just over one round to run.

“He got away great, but with that little skirmish we had to give ourselves a little space. Unfortunately we couldn’t get back in. So three deep and rolls on the top was a big effort. He wasn’t so driven before the horse was nodded. He really fought down late,” said Williams after the run.

At the end of the bar of 2600 meters, Louie had half a length over Franco Sinatra with Tabasco a head back in third place.

The winning time was 3-15.2.

The victory was the fourth in a row of the three years old and the seventh in his twelve starting career.

Bar Louie won his first two races from the Stonewall Stud Northern Barn. But Amanda said the horse was sent to the south because he was not so traceable that it had been handed to the right.

“It sustained him and made him a bit upset. He came here and he uses it a treat. He is a bit older and he is mature. I walk him now and he is so relaxed and cooled. He is just a beautiful horse,” she said.

Telfer admits that it was difficult to program a race for the talented three -year -old.

“There was probably nowhere else that he could go. There was a temptation to lead him in the National Handicap, but we had Alta Meteor there. We didn’t want two in the race, so we just stopped and came here.”

So what is the next step for this exciting three -year -old?

“We are going to focus on the larger three -year -old races with him and there are a few open three -year -old races. One of the most important goals in the speed. He goes home and has a few easy days, then we will look at the programs and see where he goes.”

Amanda was pretty sure that the race entered.

“I spoke for the race with Tim. He said it was a big field and there are some nice proven horses in the race. I said I really like this horse and I think he is going a long way. I was pretty happy with what he was doing today.”

The gelding is partly owned by Scott Plant.

Plant and Steve Stockman from Stonewall Stud are going back a long way with their first winner as a fightman during the Franklin meeting in October 2007.

Since then, the couple have had a large number of winners, including Cruiser Franco, no doctor needed, ideal novel, check -in, dance time, Triple Eight and Mimi e Coco.

“He usually goes in with some of the purchased purchases.”
