Anvitha Narender climbed one place to take the lead on day two of the Oxford Golf Resort leg of the Hero WPGT in Pune on Wednesday.
On the first day, Tvesa Malik endured a tough second round after opening with a bogey-free 70, going for a 2-over-par 74 to switch places with Anvitha, according to WGAI.
Bangalore’s Anvitha, who had a 71 in the first round of the Rs 17 lakh event, added a level par 72 in the second with a day to go.
Riya Jadon rose to third with a steady 72, including three birdies against three bogeys, while Nayanika Sanga (71) dropped three birdies against a single bogey.
Anvitha opened with a bogey on Wednesday, but birdies at holes nine and 11 helped her recover before dropping a second shot at the 12th hole.
Another birdie against a final drop shot saw her finish with a 72.
Double trouble
Tvesa had three birdies, but she also gave back three bogeys and a double in her card of 74.
Ketaki Sood (71), Shagun Narain 74) and amateur Priya Kumari (75) tied for fifth place with 3 over 147.
Mannat Brar, one of three players to score under par on the second day, and Ridhima Dilawari (73) were tied for eighth place.
Last year’s Hero Order of Merit winner Vani Kapoor (73), Khushi Khanijau (75), amateur Aradhana Manikandan (75), Karishma Govind (75), Durga Nittur (75) and Ananya Garg (76) were ranked tenth.
Durga actually hit the first hole-in-one of the season on the Par 3 14e from 140 meters.
The cut dropped to 154, with 24 professionals and four amateurs entering the final day.
