Antoine Semenyo: How a ‘lowball’ offer ended United’s chances – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Manchester United have lost almost all their creative spark due to injuries and AFCON.

The AFCON departures of Amad and Bryan Mbeumo were quickly followed by injuries to talisman Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount.

And that obviously took its toll on their performance. This explains why they were ready to trigger Antoine Semenyo’s release clause.

As things stand, Bournemouth’s talisman is on its way to Manchester City, even if United and Liverpool are still trying to hijack the deal at the last minute.

Things could have been made simpler if INEOS had not made a “lowball” offer Football transfers.

The Ghanaian was close to a deal to join Old Trafford, with the versatile forward even agreeing personal terms with the club.

However, he later found out that the 20-time English league champions had offered him lower wages than other summer signings – Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo.

He objected and therefore stayed at the Vitality Stadium and is now heading to the Etihad.

United have messed up the bag quite a bit

“Ruben Amorim met Semenyo personally to assess his character.

“United had agreed personal terms with the player only for Semenyo to discover that their salary offer to him was significantly lower than what they had given Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. This allowed Bournemouth to convince the player to sign a new contract with a release clause.

“Almost all the top clubs in the Premier League have tried to take advantage of that. Manchester United came back. Chelsea inquired. Liverpool looked at the times. Tottenham made a bid and failed again because they decided Manchester City was the most attractive club to move to.”

Antoine Semenyo would have been perfect

Mbeumo earns £150,000 gross per week, while Cunha earns £180,000 gross per week (according to capology), and INEOS could certainly have offered so much. He currently earns £75,000 gross per week at Bournemouth.

Antoine Semenyo has eight goals, which puts him third in the list of goalscorers for the current season. Last season he scored thirteen goals.

His versatility and ability to create moments of magic means United have missed a lot of time.
