Anthony Joshua did, in some respects, take a swipe at Jake Paul ahead of their strange clash to end the calendar year. Joshua will join Paul in Miami on December 19 after an initially targeted booking for mid-November with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis fell apart and left Paul without a dance partner.
While the depth of resumes and physical differences between the two are demonstrable, even during some of the face-off situations the two participated in prior to the fight, AJ touts something in “The Problem Child” that he sometimes sees missing from the current landscape.
During an interview before the fight, he explained exactly what he meant by that The Schmosaid Joshua,
“Jake Paul is a very unique situation that I have never encountered before, but I treat him with the same respect that I give to all my competitors. From a physical point of view, I couldn’t even say anything at the moment, but from a mental point of view, he offered me the fight. Normally I offer people fights. He said to me, ‘Come and fight.’ So he believes in himself.”

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul also feuded with a former UFC heavyweight champion who has also had a number of big boxing fights, including against Joshua himself. The fighter in question was Francis Ngannou, with ‘The Predator’ indicating that he had been made an offer for a fight with Paul, but found the matchmaking idea downright disrespectful to him.
At a press conference before the Joshua fight, Paul referenced Ngannou’s encounter with the former unified heavyweight boxing champion, with Paul saying he will do a hundred times better against Joshua than what Ngannou could muster against AJ. Joshua also addressed Francis Ngannou and hinted that if the PFL superfight champion was serious about making waves in boxing, he would talk about it and talk in the ring.
