TikTok Investors chasing a U.S. deal say they remain stuck as Washington approaches a new deadline. One bidder says it has money ready, but no clarity about the timing.
Frank McCourt said his group is waiting for the next US decision on a forced sale, reports BBC News.
Deadline pressure returns
The US has repeatedly postponed the date ByteDans to sell TikTok’s US operations.

The latest deadline approaches as the White House considers another extension, the report adds.
President Donald Trump seems aimed at postponing the deadline again. That would mark another pause in a saga that began with a 2024 law.
Congress approved the measure after lawmakers raised national security concerns. They argued that China could force ByteDance to share US user data.
TikTok and ByteDance have denied these claims. They say there is no evidence for these fears and that Beijing’s influence is overestimated.
Investor group is waiting
McCourt told BBC News he will remain “standby” as deadlines continue to shift. He said his team has secured financing and can move quickly.
McCourt is supporting a proposal as part of his Project Liberty effort. He said he wants TikTok to comply with U.S. law or leave the market.
He also warned against platform influence and concentrated power. He said ownership must follow clear governance and legal guardrails.
Deal Talk, few details
Trump and aides have previously suggested a deal existed. Officials have also pointed to “sophisticated” US investors as potential buyers.
Trump has mentioned allies as possible participants.
Those names included Larry Ellison by Oracle Corp. (NYSE:ORCL) And Michael Dell by Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL).
Administration officials had suggested that a meeting between Trump and Xi could finalize the terms. The meeting ended without any announced approval for a sale.
The Chinese factor is threatening
Neither ByteDance nor Beijing have publicly signed off on a US divestment. Analysts now expect another extension rather than a closure in the near term.
McCourt’s consortium includes Alexis Ohanian And Kevin O’Leary. He said the group wants to run TikTok without Chinese technology.
That plan would eliminate the current recommendation algorithm, he said. He said Project Liberty has alternative technology ready for implementation.
