-A Chevrolet Bolt Battery right case has been filed, although a consolidated Class Action right case has already been given provisional approval by a judge.
According to the court case, 2017-2022 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles and 2022 Chevrolet Bolt Electric Utility vehicles, the advertised driving range cannot reach.
The claimants complain the bolt 60 kWh 350 v Lithium ion batteries cannot be charged as advertised and “may burst spontaneously in flames, making the vehicle and its owners, tenants and residents seriously damaging.”
The Class Action right case says that General Motors cannot repair the bolts sufficiently, so that drivers are confronted with the dangers of battery fires. Fully charging a bolt battery can lead to it becoming overheated, something that, according to the court case, lines restrictions on owners of electric vehicles.
“The defect ensures that the high -voltage battery becomes overheated when it is charged on full or almost complete capacity, which can lead to catastrophic and destructive fires, resulting in an unreasonable safety risk for the drivers and passengers of vehicles equipped with the defective battery.” – Chevy Bolt Battery Class Action -Rechtszaak
GM has returned Chevrolet Bolt -battery in November 2020, July 2021 and August 2021, but the Class Action claims that the recall actions have failed.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had opened a Chevrolet Bolt Battery Fire research, but closed the probe because of the GM’s actions, including software updates, replacements of batteries and extensive guarantees.
But although those bolt repairs were good enough for federal security rulers, they were not for the claimants who sued GM. Those customers claim that the GM actions “have not solved the main cause of the battery defect and the claimants forced to reduce their electrical reach by between 20% and 40%.”
Eight previous Chevrolet Bolt Battery Class promotions were consolidated in one lawsuit entitled, In Re Chevrolet Bolt EV Battery Disputes.
After years in the court, the judge granted provisional approval to a Chevy Bolt -Battery scheme in 2024, but there were problems for customers who wanted to unsubscribe from the settlement agreement.
With the Bolt Class Action Settlement in Hold, this latest massive 766 pages of battery class campaign has been submitted.
The Chevy Bolt Battery Class Action law was brought to the American court for the eastern district of Michigan (Southern Division): Johnson, et al., V. General Motors LLC, et al.
The claimants are represented by Heygood, Orr & Pearson.
