Helene notes that she had already known that the people they and her family were surrounded, were good friends, but the support of support after discovering what she had done was ‘overwhelming’.
She also received a thank you note from the family whose Baby received her donation, a letter that she has proudly frozen since then, partly reading:
“Because of your selfless gift, part of your liver, our dear child now has a second chance of life. They recover beautifully, become stronger every day and fill our house with laughter, light and endless love.”
The memorandum also speaks about parents to see their child reach milestones, such as first steps and words, and for the future their child now has because of Helene and calls her an anonymous angel.
“Knowing that this baby reaches milestones, heats my heart so much, and it’s almost like I consider this baby as one of me. They have a piece of me, and I feel bad if they love a lot of chocolate,” Helene joked.
Inspire others in the hope of creating more living donors
Helene shares her story and her scar as an honorary sign in the hope that others will see that, although it is a major operation, the advantage of giving is indescribable if a living donor is indescribable. She continues to spread the consciousness about her experience and how beautiful it is to be part of something so important.
