A late starter in comedy, Anne Edmonds who organizes her first TV program, is a dream come true ….. and given the blessing of the original host.
When Talk about your generation Anne Edmonds was first screened for Network 10 and had not even started her comedy career.
16 years later quickly ahead and she is now organizing the restarted version Talk about your gene.
“I think I was in early twenty, or in the mid -twenties, when that came out,” she says TV tonight.
“I wasn’t even a comedian when the show was broadcast for the first time. I came in comedy quite late. I wasn’t even a guest, but I remember looking it.
“But what I remember most was that Shaun Micallef was exciting and a different kind of host. That is what I remember that I loved it. That saw on channel 10 was really cool.”
It also marks its very first time organizing a TV program.
“I think they thought I could follow Shaun with hosting a bit in the footsteps, but also bring a little other things to it. You know, trying things like a little more character, a little music we do on the job and and the like,” she explains.
“I mean, it’s a dream come true for me. Of course, if you start as a comedian, you dream of organizing a TV program. So I have been in comedy for 15 years now. So I am very happy.”
The new version has dumped baby boomers for Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z. Tonight Rove McManus, Miranda Tapsell and Callum Hole join the respective Teamcaptains Dave Hughes, Tommy Little and Anisa Nandula.
“Anisa is brilliant. She is a kind of new comedian, fantastic to work with. She will be a star, I think,” she continues.
“I think it is really fun, because it cuts out that place for Gen Zs. It must be a gene Z as a captain, and it must be one in that chair. We get to see a couple of people that we would otherwise not see. You may rarely get them on other panel shows, but it is quite rare. So that’s exciting for me. I love the show.
“I remember one of the producers who said that in the days of the original show, generations, was not even something that people talked about. While people are talking about Gen Ys and Gen Zs all day now. It’s nice that it is a bit relevant.
“We have a bit of new things there. The nice thing was, many of the old games still worked and are still great. We have done your mom! That is actually dressed as someone’s mother and there is a bit of a little karaoke on the track.”

But hosting also means that Anne Edmonds had to curb her act somewhat.
“Normally I am on the other side of the panel where you get disaster. As the host you have to follow rules and bring it back and tell everyone to keep your mouth shut and read the next piece on the autocue. You have more responsibilities than just sit in and have a great time.”
Nevertheless, she is happy with how the record went for the season and glad she got the nod from Shaun Micallef herself.
“He has passed on his good wishes. He is a great guy. So I think he is pretty happy with the follow -up plan.”
Talk about your shens at 7.30 pm Tuesday at 10 am.
