Ange insists that he has nothing to ‘prove’ in Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou insists that he has nothing to prove after taking the lead in Nottingham Forest.

Postecoglou is taking the lead for the first time this weekend over the forest in Arsenal, after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach.

The Australian was fired in Tottenham in the summer, despite the fact that the North Londers led to Europa League success. A bad Premier League campaign ended with a 17th place, the lowest of the club since 1977.

Postecoglou was criticized because he did not adjust his approach, but the 60-year-old said he feels that he has nothing to prove in Nottingham.

“I don’t see it as a point to prove. I don’t have to prove anything. You let your actions speak for themselves and you understand the responsibility you have. You have to give joy to the supporters – that is why football clubs exist. They are the lifeline of this game. That’s all I care about. I will still win things about me here.

“I just want to keep doing what I have to do because it brings Hoy to people and enables me to live my dreams.”

The appointment of Postecoglou is an important style shift for Bos, with the ambitious approach of the Australian a contrast with the conservative counterattacks of Espirito Santo.

Postecoglou insists that he will not leave his principles and supported himself to deliver success.

“I like that my teams play exciting football and score goals and make fans enthusiastic. I don’t apologize about it, that’s just the way I am. We want to dominate the ball and score goals. Everything with the end goal of winning football matches. If your games wins you can win a group of players and the possibility of watching.

“If you look at my first year at Spurs, we finished fifth. Fifth you would have given a Champions League spot at any other year. And we were really aggressive with our football. People say it doesn’t work.

“But as a fifth ending after taking over a team, and we had just lost a generation talent in Harry Kane. My last year was certainly another year and we had to adjust the way we did things, and it bought our success. But I never leave my principles.

“I want my team to play football and it’s exciting, it lets people talk. From my perspective I will always try to do things a little differently.”
