Rasmus Hojlund is supposed to be about to sign the rest of the season for Napoli.

After more than a week of negotiations between the Serie A-Outfit and Manchester United, a deal is now closed with which Hojlund will make the switch to a seasonal loan. Subsequently, Napoli – on condition that they are eligible for the Champions League – will have to choose a fee of £ 40 million to add him permanently to their ranks.

However, the Scudetto winners were not the only club in the mix for his signature.

When it became clear that United Hojlund wanted to unload immediately after they had signed Benjamin Sesko, AC Milan was one of the first parties to serve their interest in signing the Danish international.

Although in the beginning he was reluctant to go out of exit discussions, he finally opened the door to a summer deviation after he was informed by Ruben Amorim that his playing time would be shortened if he was sitting.

Hojlund then illuminated green switch to the San Siro, before an injury to Romelu Lukaku Napoli encouraged to dive into and convince the striker to join them about their Italian rivals.

There was also a small possibility that he would also have had the option to continue in the Premier League.

According to Andy in the middleBoth Fulham and Newcastle United considered making approaches for the 22-year-old, but eventually found him too expensive for their wage structure.

Newcastle has since pursued Nick Woltemade of VFB Stuttgart in the midst of the constant absence of Alexander Isak in the first team.

Nevertheless, Hojlund is ready to reunite with former teammate Scott McTominay, whose career has been drunk since leaving his youth team, in Naples, while they are fighting to retain their competition title this period.
