Brentford boss Keith Andrews hailed Igor Thiago’s performance as ‘sensational’ as the forward hit a hat-trick in his side’s win over Everton.

Thiago was on target three times as Brentford secured an emphatic 4-2 win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, extending their excellent start to the season. The Brazilian’s debut season in west London was decimated by a knee injury, but he has returned in stunning fashion.

Thiago has now scored 14 goals in the Premier League this season, with only Manchester City striker Erling Haaland having scored more.

The 24-year-old’s form has sparked talks about a possible appearance for Brazil in next summer’s World Cup. After his latest performance, Andrews said Thiago deserves ‘the accolades’.

“Strikers live and breathe [goals] and get a lot of confidence from it,” the Brentford boss told BBC Sport.

“He has played well lately without scoring. His performance today was sensational. He deserves the accolades.”

“It’s about consistency. I feel that the team, the squad and the club have made good steps forward in recent weeks. They have earned that by playing this way.”

“We have a lot of respect for every game. We just keep working hard. A real hunger to improve all the time and push each other and see where we go.”

“We were excellent. Personality, conviction, energy, spirit. In a very difficult terrain.”
