The Los Angeles Dodgers have the luxury of Future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw’s talents for 18 seasons.
Despite his three Cy Young Awards, an MVP, five ERA titles and countless distinctions, he had a negative story about his CV of the late season. President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman spoke about how much of the public’s investigation should be avoided.

“I think the story,” said Friedman, “is outside the base. You look at Kersh and the big start he had in October, how much he is back in short rest, how much he was left out of longer than he should have because Bullpens were not as good as what people felt like he would do, and there was gone longer than you should.
“You’ve never heard of one of him about it. I think that so much of it has clouded the general oeuvre that when we had big competitions and he was rested, there was no one we would rather have on the hill than Kershaw.”
Kershaw has a career 2.54 ERA in 453 regular seasonal competitions, but his era after the 4.49 season in total performances gets the majority of the negative attention.
Manager Dave Roberts seemed to confirm that the workload that Kershaw confronted from the regular seasons before, in combination with the sequencing of events, played in the October struggle.
“Especially if you look back on the circumstances of some of the things that happened,” said Roberts, “whether it is the 240 innings or on very short rest several times in an late season and never run for it, that responsibility like the bait. You have to take on a lot of control or potential failures. Everything was not optimal for him.”
The past is in the different oeuvre of Kershaw in the past, because the only thing that counts before Kershaw officially hangs up is a third World Series ring to add to his collection.
