The Los Angeles Dodgers have recently had tons of chatter with regard to triple MVP Shohei Ohtani, especially about where he will best be used as a pitcher in the late season, and president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman recently weighed this matter.
This season, Ohtani made 13 trips on the hill, all of whom started, but with the current state of the bullpen, Friedman did not close the idea of an Ohtani -appearing in relief.

“Things take place in October that you can’t provide for,” said Friedman.
The Dodgers fell on the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday to kick off a three-game set, but for the game, former Dodgers right-handed Walker Buehler was spotted with his old teammates.
Friedman used Buehler as an example for how unpredictable things can be in the late season, and how Ohtani could go into the same footsteps.
“Walker Buehler was a starting pitcher for us last year and ended game 5 of the World Series,” said Friedman. “So you never know how it will work.”
Ohtani will at least start games at the moment and it is expected to be part of the rotation in October.
“We expect him to be a starter for us,” said Friedman, “and depending on everything else, we will find out where we can go from there.”
Ohtani as a Slagman has made the case to collect his fourth MVP price, but as a pitcher he continues to excel.
He threw five no-hit innings against the Phillies on Tuesday and has now threw 8.2 Shutout-Innings during his last two starts.
On the year, Ohtani, the pitcher has an ERA of 3.29 a total of 41 innings. His average fastball speed is at 98 mph, which has risen from the 2023 campaign.
If he can continue to improve the bump, regardless of which inning he enters the game, he will be a force to take this late season into account.
