After a disastrous two-year spell, Manchester United were forced to send Andre Onana on loan in the summer.

Former manager Erik ten Hag had brought in the Cameroonian as a replacement for David de Gea due to his superior skill with the ball at his feet.

However, the main task of a goalkeeper is to prevent the ball from ending up in the net, and the ex-Ajax CEO turned out to be gloomy in this regard.

Several big mistakes cost the Red Devils in the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League. Despite this, Ruben Amorim was open to giving the 29-year-old another chance.

Andre Onana said he has no future at United

But the Cameroon international spoiled it, with the goalkeeper at fault for United’s Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town.

A loan to Trabzonspor was hastily arranged, where Andre Onana has enjoyed decent form, keeping three clean sheets in 11 appearances.

The Turkish side are keen to keep the shot-stopper permanently, but his wages and United’s asking price are likely to be major obstacles.

Andre Onana is keen to return to Old Trafford and challenge Senne Lammens for the number 1 spot, but after his AFCON stun, SportsBoom have revealed that the African star has been informed by the Red Devils that he has no future in Manchester.

Saudi Arabia beckons?

The former Inter Milan star is keen to earn a high wage as he has commitments at home. That was why he had asked for a new United contract in the first place.

Not many European sides will be willing to pay the goalkeeper an obscene wage package, but the Saudi Pro League sides remain interested and that could be Onana’s best chance.

“Andre Onana knows his future could lie in Saudi Arabia after being dropped from Cameroon’s AFCON squad, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

“It is understood the goalkeeper has been told his career at Manchester United is over after two ill-fated seasons at Old Trafford.

United hope to sell him for a decent fee

“Our sources have told us that Onana was not happy with the pay cut after United failed to qualify for European football this season because there are people in his home country who are financially dependent on him.

“Onana has played for some big clubs during his career, but his performances in recent years have prevented him from finding any big names in Europe’s top leagues.

“Clubs from the Saudi Arabian Pro League have previously shown interest in the under-fire stopper and United bosses hope they will rekindle their interest at the end of the season.”

The twenty-time champion of the English league paid 50 million euros for his services in 2023. It currently has a market value of €20 million according to Transfer market.

It will be interesting to see what compensation he gets if United do a deal with a club from Saudi Arabia.
