Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandababu Naidu has set up civil servants on Saturday to complete the final preparations well in advance to ensure the timely release of 3,850 Cusecs Water in the Jeedipalli reservoir under Phase-Neeva project from July 15.
The government of the continuous efforts of Andhra Pradesh in the past year to ensure that irrigation water now produces important results for the Rayalaseema region, said an official press release.
“From July 15, 3,850 CUSECS Water will be released in the Jeedipalli reservoir Under phase -1 of the Handri -NEVA project. The Chief Minister has ordered civil servants to complete definitive preparations a few days in advance to ensure timely water,” the press release said.
Jeedipalli water will then be used to fill the reservoirs from Gollapalli, Marala and Cherlopalli.
The CM instructed officials to use the full 3,850 CUSECs water that was released via the Handri -Neva channels to fill all reservoirs and tanks in Rayalaseema during a review meeting at his camp office.
Naidu noted that every drop of water must be used wisely and officials must be established to implement an extensive and coordinated plan for efficient water management, with special attention to the charging of groundwater.
In the meantime, civil servants have informed the CM that all districts have received normal rainfall so far except Kadapa, while predictions for the coming days are optimistic.
Currently, the reservoirs of the State contain 419 TMC water, whereby a significant increase is recorded compared to the 182 TMC that was stored at the same time last year, which represents a profit of 236 TMC, the release added.
