Home Minister V. Anitha will chair a high-level meeting on the annual budget proposals of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting focused on strengthening law and order and modernizing the police force to meet new security challenges.
The Home Minister held detailed discussions on the budgetary allocations required to improve police standards and operational efficiency.
She directed the officials to take steps for release of funds due from the Union government and emphasized the need for effective and transparent use of available funds.
Ms. Anitha stressed the need to further strengthen the technical wing of the police department and cater to the needs of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) and other specialized units. She said adequate budgetary support should be provided for improving infrastructure, equipment and manpower to improve the overall performance and morale of the force.
She also underlined the need to allocate sufficient funds for modern technology, communication systems and logistics to ensure better public safety and internal security. “Providing resources and facilities to police personnel should be treated as an important part of the department’s budget planning,” she said.
The meeting was attended by ADGP (L&O) N. Madhusudhana Reddy, IG (Provisioning & Logistics) M. Ravi Prakash, Special Secretary G. Vijay Kumar, EAGLE director and IG Ake Ravi Krishna, and IG (battalions) B. Raja Kumari.
