Anderson Silva wants to become a police officer

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva scored a second-round TKO victory over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on Friday night. The 50-year-old “Spider” delivered a brutal uppercut in their boxing match, which was part of the main card in Netflix’s Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight.

While the win was epic, Silva said it was after the match that made fight fans love the famed martial arts athletes event more.

In Silva’s post-fight interview in the ring, Ariel Helwani asked, “Is this the moment you want to go out, or do you want to continue?”

Silva replied: “I mean, I’ll keep doing it. [But] You know, I’m going back to work now and starting my police academy [with the] Beverly Hills Police.”

A stunned Helwani asked, “You’re going to be a police officer?!”

Silva then confirmed his desire to join the police force before explaining that, from his perspective, he sees it as an opportunity to “give something back” to the community.

Silva was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in July 2023, cementing his status as a combat sports legend before his transition to boxing. He holds the record for the longest title reign in UFC history, a whopping 2,457 days between 2006 and 2013.
