Ruben Amorim says he will not resign as a man United Manager, nor will he change his 3-4-2-1 system despite the bad form of the club.

The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League table on seven points, only three above the relegation zone prior to Saturday with Sunderland.

Amorim is under enormous pressure after achieving only 34 points of 33 games since he was in charge of the team last November. But the Portuguese insists that he is not going to run away from the track.

Ruben Amorim holds full

Asked what he meant when he said he was not afraid to lose his job after last weekend’s defeat against Brentford, Amorim explained: “Because the worst in this job is not to win games. That is the same feeling I had in Casa Pia when I lost in the third division.

“And then it is a job. Of course it is a dream to be here. And I want to continue here. And I want to fight for this. But the problem is now, what me suffers, is not losing games, not to lose my job.

“You are afraid of losing your job if you have to pay the bills and I don’t have that feeling. I just want to continue this. But if we don’t win games, it’s the suffering that I have. It is not the fear of losing the job. I don’t care.

“I tell you when we finish the game and you can see me, I don’t care for my work. That hurts not to win or fail games. That is the thing that hurts me the most.”

Asked if there was a scenario in which he would resign as a man United manager, Amorim replied: “That is a decision of the board. I can’t do that. Sometimes I have that feeling and losing is difficult. It is so frustrating when you create the momentum, go to the next game, and something happens.

“That feeling sometimes hurts me a lot. The players and especially the staff here.

“But that is not my decision. And I think it would be very difficult to leave if I don’t do everything to follow my career here.”
