Job description:
Amherst College invites applications for the position of the tennis coach of Assistant Men.
The assistant tennis coach for men will report to the head coach and is responsible for helping the head coach in all phases of the Herennis program, including the recruitment of a diverse series of student athletes, assisting with daily operations, practical implementation and other tasks assigned by the head coach and director of Atletiek. Requires a variable schedule; Night, weekend work and overnight travel to road meetings and tournaments are required.
This is a non-adjusted position.
Summary of the responsibilities:
Coaching
- Helping with coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop the skills and teamwork of student athletes
- Analyze the performance of teams and individuals and give leadership and instruction
- Help in the preseason, in season and training after the season and practice planning
Acquisition
- Participate in scouting and recruitment of potential student athletes
- Help in following the progress of the application process of potential student athletes
- Help coordinate and organize potential visits to student athlete on campus
Responsibilities of the program
- Compliance with College, Nescac and NCAA rules and regulations
- Work together with the head coach to develop and strengthen team culture and to create a diverse and inclusive program
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid driving license to manage university vehicles to team competition when needed. Requires a successful completion of the five -way direction of the five -risk management of the Risk Management College. (To see: https://www.fivecolleges.edu/riskmgmt/driver_credentainginging))
- Collegial play and/or coaching experience
- Insight into the role of Intercollegiate Athletics in a very competitive academic environment
- Dedication to or experience working with a diverse community
- Successful completion of the required reference and background controls
