Amazing F1 history set for Monterey Reunion | Racer

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports -Reunion of next week celebrates the 75th birthday of Formula 1 with a great collection of Grand Prix cars that contributed to the worldwide rise of the sport since the first championship in 1950 was held.

Set up for placement in an F1 75th Anniversary paddock display behind Turn 3, more than a dozen F1 cars are on the way to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca as a supplement to dozens of others participating in the Mario Andretti Trophy F1-Rassen for cars of 1966-1985.

Under the highlights for the exhibition group, Honda and Williams Nigel Mansell’s FW11 from 1986, who has a highlighted guest driver to use the 1.5-liter Twin-Turbo V6 engine that made more than 1000 hp in his time.

The event, which 2009 has F1 world champion Jenson Button as his Grand Marshal, opens on Wednesday 13 August and runs until Sunday 17.

  • 1983 Williams FW08C (Keke Rosberg won the Monaco GP from 1983)
  • 1984 Toleman Hart TG184 (Rookie Ayrton Senna’s first career stage with a 2nd in Monaco)
  • 1984 McLaren MP4-2/01 (Niki Lauda won McLaren’s 3rd driver championship and the 2nd constructors championship with 5 wins in this chassis)
  • 1988 McLaren MP4/4 (Alain Prost won 7 races and finished 2nd in the championship in 1988)
  • 1992 McLaren MP4/7A (This car had 5 victories: Senna-3 and Gerhard Berger-2)
  • 2009 Brawn BGP001 (Jenson Button won 6 races and championship in 2009)
  • 2019 Toro Rosso ST14 (Rookie Alex Albon ran the first half of the season before switching to Red Bull, with Pierre Gasly returning to Toro Rosso with his best finish of 2nd in Brazil)
  • 2024 McLaren MCL38/02 (Lando Norris won 3 Races and McLaren won the Constructors’ Championship in 2024)
