The Australian Women’s National Cricket Team has suffered a huge blow as their captain, Alyssa Healy, suffered a serious injury in the middle of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Alyssa Healy has suffered a calf injury and has been ruled out of the high-profile 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match against the England Women’s National Cricket Team.
Australia is concerned about the availability of Alyssa Healy for the semi-final
On Tuesday, October 21, Cricket Australia (CA) announced that Alyssa Healy’s calf injury will rule her out of the match against England to be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Wednesday, October 23.

In Healy’s absence, Tahlia McGrath will assume the captaincy duties and lead the Australian team, while Beth Mooney will take over the wicket gloves.
With Alyssa Healy dropped from the playing XI, 22-year-old opener Georgia Voll is expected to replace her in the squad. Australia would be hoping that their captain makes a speedy recovery as they are likely to play their semi-final on October 29 in Guwahati.
Australia undefeated at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup
The Aussies entered the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup as one of the heavy favorites to win the championship, and they have played some exceptional brand of cricket so far.
Australia are one of two undefeated teams in the tournament alongside England and have already qualified for the semi-finals of the major tournament.
They started their tournament with a dominant 89-run win over New Zealand, and their next match against Sri Lanka was swept away in Colombo.
Thereafter, Australia defeated Pakistan by 107 runs, India by 3 wickets and Bangladesh by 10 wickets to register a hat-trick of wins. In the match against Bangladesh, the Aussies chased 199 runs in 24.5 overs with Healy hitting 113 and Phoebe Litchfield hitting an unbeaten 84 runs.
We did our best, but the performance wasn’t great – Alyssa Healy
After the game in Bangladesh, Alyssa Healy expressed her disappointment at the lack of implementation of the plans, but was happy to get two points. She explained:
“I think so, they played well (against Bangladesh). We tried our best but the execution wasn’t great but I’m happy we got the two points. It’s so difficult to be honest, I was disappointed with my glovework today but I made up for it a little bit with the bat but I’m really enjoying the challenge. We’ve been here for a while, we’re going to a new venue, we haven’t been to Indore before and there’s a new challenge coming against England.
“It was great for her (on Alana King), great to see her dominate and get the rewards for that. The players who came in played a great role for us. Darcie was excellent beforehand, as I said, we will make changes based on the conditions and match-ups. I thought she was excellent today (on Phoebe Litchfield). We pride ourselves on our professionalism, we played well today to get the two points, we’ll come back and are also prepared for the next match.”
