Althea Gibson, Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” to appear on Usta’s US Open Comic Book – World Tennis Magazine

The USTA has announced that the US Open and Marvel will continue their milestone cooperation for a second consecutive year by defending this year’s US Open -Theme – 75 years of breaking barriers – with a new and original comic book that Althea Gibson and the Fantastic Four bring to the attention. More than 40,000 printed copies of the comic book are published for free to fans during the US Open Fan Week, held on August 18-23 in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY

The original comic book follows the Fantastic Four as they learn about Gibson’s life and career and the inheritance she inspired while breaking the color barrier of tennis at the US Open from 1950, before they go back to Rug Wimbledon and US Open Singles titles and one of the most legendary figures in tennis. The story then follows the inspired Fantastic Four to the US Open, where they channel Gibson to overcome an ‘impossible’ challenge for the courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Print copies of the comic book are published for free to fans who have registered Access cardWith 6,000 books that are given away every day from Monday to Friday from US Open Fan Week, and the remaining copies that will be given away on Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day on Saturday 23 August. The comic books are distributed on the basis of who comes first, first grinds, first grinds fans who scan their fans on the GiveaWay booth, with a limit of a comic per fan for the week before the week before the week before the week
