Altay Bayindir: Besiktas remain in touch with summer deal hopes – Man United News and Transfer News | The People’s Person

Manchester United’s early problems this season were in no small part due to their problems with the goalkeeper position.

Both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir were responsible for costing United points and progress in cup competitions before INEOS finally went to market to solve the problem.

Senne Lammens was brought in from Royal Antwerp and immediately improved United’s play, with the Belgian starting to work nicely as United’s number one.

No way back for United understudy

Onana has since been shipped off to Europe, plying his trade at Turkish side Trabzonspor, while Bayindir remained in Manchester as Lammens’ understudy.

However, as reported by Fotomac via SportwitnessBayindir’s days at Old Trafford will be numbered, with Besiktas interested in bringing the goalkeeper to the Super Lig as well.

It was reported that the Turkish giants tried to get a deal over the line in the January window but failed in their attempts, with United blocking the move on the final strokes.

Despite this, Photo mac says Besiktas “remains in discussions” with United and the player, with a view to securing the transfer in the summer market.

The report will be good news for the stopper, who will no doubt be eager to get his career back on track.

United are not expected to stand in the way of the 25-year-old at the end of the season, with INEOS looking forward to another busy final season at the Theater of Dreams.

Exercise makes sense

A divorce is undoubtedly the right move for both the player and the club, with Bayindir simply not good enough for the Manchester gig.

After his strong start, Lammens will firmly enter the number one choice in net next season, and Bayindir will have to move on if he has any plans for regular time.

Furthermore, the stopper still has some market value and United will look to get as much out of the deal as possible, with the money expected to be put back into rebuilding the squad.

Unless Lammens picks up an injury or suspension in United’s remaining 12 games, Bayindir will likely have played his last game for the club, with a return to his home country the most likely option for him to continue his career.

Bayindir has made 17 appearances for United since joining from Fenerbahçe in 2023.
