Splitting these two models based on cost creates the £65,390 A390 Premiere Edition, of which there will only be 390; It’s based on the GT, but features Alpine Blue six-piston brake calipers, Sabelt Nappa leather seats, a 22 kW onboard AC charger (11 kW is standard), a black contrast roof and some French tricolors for good measure. Standard equipment on all A390s includes a 12.3-inch driver display and 12-inch central screen (with Google built-in), a 13-speaker Devialet sound system, a power tailgate and the usual array of driver assistance systems. Exclusive to the GTS are the 21-inch Snowflake wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (the GT uses Sport EV rubber), red brake calipers, an even better Xtreme Sound audio system and the Expert specification of Alpine telemetry. The Premiere Edition Sabelt seats are also included. The colors are Blanc Topaze, Noir Profond, Argent Mercure, Bleu Abysse, Bleu Alpine Vision and Gris Tonnerre Matte, although it is not yet clear which will be optional. The Premiere Edition’s black contrast roof costs £1,000 for a GT or GTS.

So the Alpine is another family-friendly battery-powered SUV that emphasizes driving fun and interior ambiance for around £60,000; you probably don’t need to tell us that it’s entering a particularly crowded market segment. But for some extra context, the Porsche Macan Electric (360hp, 270kW, up to 638km, depending on specification) is from £68,600; for £71,900 that could be a 408bhp all-wheel drive Macan 4 Electric. The new BMW iX3 looks very good on paper, with 469bhp and up to 500 miles from £58,455, with 400kW charging power too, but will likely need options to the standard specification to be at its best. The Audi Q6 e-tron, the Macan’s sibling, starts at £60,000, although it can’t even muster 300bhp for that amount of money. And don’t forget the muscle car of the group, the 650 hp Kia EV6 GT; Not as competitive in range as some, but still hard to ignore at £60,035.
Enough to think about for a potential A390 customer. Alpine’s UK Brand Director Nic Burnside said: “With its blend of expressive design, tailor-made electric performance and the dynamic spirit that defines every Alpine, the A390 marks an important step in the brand’s transition to an all-electric future – a future that remains firmly focused on driving pleasure.” Possibly a more ambitious mission than ever given recent developments, but let’s see. In any case, not a single example of the new A390 will be missing when it arrives in Great Britain.
