Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has questioned whether or not he will be put on ice by the promotion this year.
Aljamain Sterling has had a mixed start in the featherweight division after rising from bantamweight, where he became world champion. Since his return, he has a record of 2-1 at 145 pounds, with his most recent win coming against Brian Ortega last summer. Since then, he has been on the hunt for another fight, which he has yet to receive.
Aljamain Sterling has never been shy about expressing his opinions, even about the UFC and how it works. He’s hungry to prove himself and at this point in his mixed martial arts career, he may not have much longer to go before he decides to hang up the gloves for good.
In a recent interview, Aljamain Sterling said the following about what he wants to happen this year.

“I’m just here for fun,” Sterling told MMA Junkie and other reporters. “I don’t have much time left in the tank, so I have to get it going if I want to try and get another belt. I have to start now. I hope they don’t put me on hold again like they did last year. One fight for the year, that was tough. I would like to get two or three this year. That’s the goal.”
“I would imagine so,” Sterling said of his next fight, depending on the UFC 325 outcome. “I’d like to see Volkanovski win, one of the OGs gets it done again. But to win two in a row against a guy who hits hard like Lopes, it’s tough, especially where Volks is in his career. I see Lopes getting it done, but I’m rooting for Volk and letting the best guy win. I’ll wait there.”
