Alexander Volkanovski discusses his future after winning UFC 325

UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski has spoken about his future after his big win at UFC 325.

Last night in the main event of UFC 325, Alexander Volkanovski successfully defended his UFC featherweight championship. He beat Diego Lopes quite comprehensively, furthering his case for being considered the greatest of all time at 145 pounds.

Of course, while that may be the case for many, Volkanovski still believes he still has a lot of work to do. There are some serious contenders at featherweight right now, with the likes of Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev patiently waiting for their chance to go after ‘The Great’.

Speaking at a post-fight press conference in Sydney, Volkanovski gave his thoughts on what the future could hold for him.

Volkanovski talks about his future

“I am an easy-to-understand champion,” Volkanovski said at a post-fight press conference. “If you deserve it, you’re next. … I have a responsibility. I talk about having a responsibility as a champion. I don’t think enough champions look at it that way. To me, I see it as a responsibility.”

“There are rankings for a reason, people who deserve it. If someone gets in, I’ll still be active enough to still give the people who deserve it a chance so they don’t have to wait so long. But if I just keep letting other people cut the line, then I’m not really doing my part either. I’ll talk to the UFC and see what they say. But for me, at the end of the day, I’m an easy champion again. If the UFC pushes it or whatever, okay. We’ll see what happens.”
