You may have seen claims from Alexander Isak that use ‘little known FIFA rule’ to run away from Newcastle United.

Claims of embarrassing media and desperate Liverpool fans, who behave as if they had discovered the secret of life itself.

The claims that go along the style of Alexander Isak can now use FIFA article 17 to unilaterally terminate and walk away with Newcastle United.

As explained below, this is not real life, certainly not with what happens to Alexander Isak, Newcastle United and Liverpool (or another club that may want to sign him).

The reason that this FIFA rule is ‘little known’ is because it is ‘very little used’ that can be used.

Every genius that claims that this can be used by Alexander Isak, simply because Newcastle United is not willing to sell it cheaply, does not have the answer why not every player does not do this in circumstances similar to that of Isak.

For fans of Liverpool and desperate media who have no idea, there is no magical key to all this, Liverpool should offer a amount of money that Newcastle United would be willing to accept, just like in a normal transfer transaction.

This is Anfield report – August 21, 2025:

‘Alexander Isak cannot terminate his contract in Newcastle in order to force a transfer to Liverpool this summer using a FIFA rule revised after the court case of Lassana Diarra.

Article 17 of the FIFA regulations on the transfer and status of players was rewritten after a court case last year in which their earlier formulation was taken over.

This was after former Real Madrid -midfielder Diarra de Fifa legally challenged their rules for transfers, with regard to his prohibition and a fine of € 10 million for a breach of contract in an attempt to move from Lokomotiv Moscow to Charleroi to Charleroi in 2014.

It has been speculated that ISAK could now call the amended Article 17 to unilaterally terminate his contract with Newcastle for no reason.

But that is not possible, at least this summer, and any movement that would take to Striker to Liverpool before the transfer window closes, would require a traditional agreement with its current Club Newcastle.

The rule should be invoked within 15 days of the end of a season, which means that the earliest isak could do, would be mid -June 2026.

Compensation would still owe Newcastle if that happened, although there was no indication at this stage that the player or his representatives are planning to do this. ‘
