Alex Scott: Manchester United interested in Bournemouth midfielder – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Manchester United appear to regret putting all their eggs in Carlos Baleba’s basket this summer.

Baleba emerged as United’s dream target in midfield, but the £100 million valuation for Brighton & Hove Albion put their pursuit on the back burner. Now Ruben Amorim has to deal with a wafer-thin midfield.

Baleba, meanwhile, has been in poor form, forcing United to explore alternative targets in midfield.

Manchester United wants to sign a midfielder in 2026

It is widely reported that United are keen to strengthen their midfield in 2026.

The Red Devils have attracted interest in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher.

According to journalist Graeme BaileyUnited are “scouring the transfer market for central midfielders” and Bournemouth youngster Alex Scott is the latest name on their radar.

United are keeping an eye on Alex Scott

The Cherries signed Scott from Bristol City on a £25 million deal in 2023. The move has proven to be an incredible move as the 22-year-old has become a mainstay in Andoni Iraola’s side.

He has featured in 10 Premier League games so far this season, which caught the attention of Thomas Tuchel, who has called him up for the upcoming games in England.

It is understood that United have been keeping a close eye on Scott and that he has “impressed the Carrington recruiting staff.” The Mancunians have been following his development since his time at Bristol, and now he has “developed into a dominant player.”

Amorim wants to sign an athletic midfielder, and Scott is said to “pass the ball” as he is known for his ability to cover ground and recover the ball. When in possession he excels at carrying the ball forward.

The Englishman also received praise from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in 2023.

“He is an incredible player, incredible,” Guardiola said (via Air sports) despite Bristol’s 3–0 defeat in the FA Cup.
