Dominick Reyes has explained why he believes that the rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira will be different.

As we know, Magomed Ankalaev was able to beat Alex Pereira in their first meeting at UFC 313 and claim the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Since then it seemed inevitable that we would see some sort of rematch between the two – and now it is official.

Alex Pereira gets his chance of revenge on UFC 320 in Las Vegas. He does not waste time in trying to recover the belt that has been taken from him, and even if he loses, you must think that he will already think about the possibility of a run in the heavyweight division.

A man who will keep a close eye on the Rematch is none other than light heavyweight competition Dominick Reyes. In a recent interview he had the following to say about the opportunities of Alex Pereira this time.

Dominick Reyes’ view of Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira 2

“I think it will be different in the sense that Alex actually had free time, and he had time to prepare better,” said Reyes. “He fought, what, four times a year or something? I think he lost that fight he should dig more. I think it will be another fight. Alex has worked extremely hard and he is very focused.

“Don’t get me wrong: Ankalaev is a very good hunter. Alex looked bland in the last fight, which is rare. He did not pull the tractor, which is not very common for him. It could have just been Ankalaev’s movement and his threat of the Takedown loved Alex.”

Regardless of who comes to the top, it certainly feels that Reyes is a big win over Carlos Ulberg, away from going back to a title shot.
